India and the United Kingdom Unleash a Next Generation Economic Corridor: Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and Agreement on Social Security Contributions Set to Enter into Force on 15th July 2026

The India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) officially came into force on 15 July 2026, creating one of the biggest trade opportunities between India and the UK in recent years.

What does this mean for UK importers?

The agreement is expected to make sourcing from India more competitive by: -

  • Simplifying trade procedures and strengthening long-term trade between both countries.
  • Providing UK buyers with access to a wider range of quality Indian products at more competitive landed costs. If you've been considering sourcing from India, this is an excellent time to explore ready stock opportunities.
  • Eliminating or reducing tariffs on around 99% of Indian exports to the UK, including many textile and home furnishing products.
